00:00:00.040 --> 00:00:00.802
Hi, I'm Jim Murray.

00:00:00.802 --> 00:00:01.786
Welcome to the show.

00:00:01.786 --> 00:00:03.630
Our April 9th podcast.

00:00:03.630 --> 00:00:06.820
Something going on with our podcast I want to tell you about Now.

00:00:06.820 --> 00:00:20.332
I don't know if you're using your phone, your tablet or your regular computer to get to our website, but just a little bit down from the top you'll see something that says Join the email list and it says Join other listeners to get updates on new episodes and information.

00:00:20.332 --> 00:00:24.062
All you have to do is put your first name and your email address and subscribe.

00:00:24.283 --> 00:00:27.746
Now, I know that word subscribe sometimes scares people off.

00:00:27.746 --> 00:00:31.230
I know it does me, but that's probably not the right word to have on there.

00:00:31.230 --> 00:00:33.192
But anyway, you give us your email address.

00:00:33.192 --> 00:00:35.012
It doesn't go anywhere.

00:00:35.012 --> 00:00:38.015
I've never sold an email address in my life and I'm not going to start now.

00:00:38.015 --> 00:00:38.796
It's private.

00:00:38.796 --> 00:00:44.246
Information comes along as we get going stronger.

00:00:44.246 --> 00:00:48.505
We want to give it to you first, so we'll just send you an email and say here's what's happening.

00:00:48.505 --> 00:00:52.777
So, really, here's what's happening now.

00:00:52.856 --> 00:01:19.433
If you haven't subscribed and some have but if you haven't subscribed with your choice in the March and April song list, if you go to the page, it says song selections for March and April 2025.

00:01:19.433 --> 00:01:21.078
Just pick three.

00:01:21.078 --> 00:01:26.653
Maybe it's something you've heard before and you remembered it, or something that's coming up yet in April.

00:01:26.653 --> 00:01:29.168
As a matter of fact, I'll even throw May in there.

00:01:29.168 --> 00:01:32.524
I don't have the May songs up yet, but let's do it through May.

00:01:32.524 --> 00:01:36.891
So if you hear a song, listen to the podcast, you say man, that's hot, I want that.

00:01:36.891 --> 00:01:41.683
I will email it to you, three of them at one time.

00:01:41.683 --> 00:01:46.009
You have to give me all three picks at one time, free charge, no charge.

00:01:46.009 --> 00:01:47.971
You can have those songs in your collection.

00:01:47.971 --> 00:01:49.192
So that's the deal.

00:01:49.192 --> 00:01:54.001
All that for your email address, guaranteed.

00:01:54.001 --> 00:01:56.489
It goes nowhere except the News and Grooves family.

00:01:56.489 --> 00:01:59.790
We don't sell, we don't give emails.

00:01:59.790 --> 00:02:05.025
I don't want anyone doing that to mine, and I'm sure you don't either, and we hope to see you subscribe.

00:02:05.025 --> 00:02:09.528
Thank you, and now on with the show.

00:02:54.153 --> 00:03:01.695
You're listening to the News and Grooves podcast, blue, can't help but smile.

00:03:01.695 --> 00:03:03.157
It's all brand new.

00:03:03.157 --> 00:03:13.948
Oh, my baby's coming back to me like a wave crashing on the sea, got my heart beating one, two, three.

00:03:13.948 --> 00:03:17.493
Oh, my baby's coming back to me.

00:03:17.493 --> 00:03:30.919
Gone for too long, the world was gray, but I knew love would find its way.

00:03:30.919 --> 00:03:37.276
Steps are lighter.

00:03:37.276 --> 00:03:38.718
I'm dancing strong.

00:03:38.718 --> 00:03:46.633
The clock's been ticking not for long.

00:03:46.633 --> 00:03:50.728
Shake it up.

00:03:50.728 --> 00:03:52.352
It's a sweet return.

00:03:52.352 --> 00:03:54.325
Love like fire.

00:03:54.325 --> 00:03:58.366
Let the rhythm burn Dreams we painted.

00:03:58.366 --> 00:04:03.811
They never fade, running back like a serenade.

00:04:03.811 --> 00:04:15.191
Oh, my baby's coming back to me Like a wave crashing on the sea, got my heart beating one, two, three.

00:04:15.191 --> 00:04:18.930
Oh, my baby's coming back to me.

00:04:18.930 --> 00:04:23.879
Streetlights shimmer like they know my name.

00:04:23.879 --> 00:04:27.771
Every corner's a spark, it's all the same.

00:04:27.771 --> 00:04:31.490
That groove in my soul got me singing loud.

00:04:31.490 --> 00:04:33.620
Love's a miracle.

00:04:33.620 --> 00:04:37.964
It's coming back now.

00:04:37.964 --> 00:04:42.447
Streetlights shimmer like they know my name.

00:04:42.447 --> 00:04:58.511
Every corner's a spark, it's all the same.

00:04:58.511 --> 00:05:02.339
That groove in my soul got me singing loud.

00:05:02.339 --> 00:05:04.365
Love's a miracle.

00:05:04.365 --> 00:05:06.069
It's coming back now.

00:05:21.079 --> 00:05:30.754
One night in 1973, the two young McDaniel children of Enfield, illinois, claimed to see a weird creature lurking in their yard and trying to get in the house.

00:05:30.754 --> 00:05:36.713
But Father Henry McDaniel chalked their creepy story up to the active imagination of childhood.

00:05:36.713 --> 00:05:39.423
However, he changed his mind later.

00:05:39.423 --> 00:05:47.278
That night, after being awoken by strange scratching sounds, mcdaniel grabbed a gun and a flashlight and peered outside his front door.

00:05:47.278 --> 00:05:55.278
There, between two rose bushes, he saw a creature that was almost like a human body, just as his kids had described.

00:05:55.278 --> 00:06:00.348
It had three legs on it, a short body, two little short arms and two pink eyes as big as flashlights, he recounted to a reporter.

00:06:00.348 --> 00:06:04.370
And two pink eyes as big as flashlights, he recounted to a reporter.

00:06:04.370 --> 00:06:14.237
Mcdaniel said he fired four shots and was sure he hit the creature at least once, causing it to make a hiss much like a wildcat's, before it ran off toward a railway embankment.

00:06:14.237 --> 00:06:21.202
Mcdaniel was stunned when he saw the monstrous beast jump 80 feet in three jumps before quickly running out of sight.

00:06:21.202 --> 00:06:30.754
The police found scratches on the door screen as well as footprints in the dirt near McDaniel's home that looked dog-like, with six toe pads.

00:06:30.754 --> 00:06:33.706
Yet no clues pointed to an unusual creature.

00:06:34.769 --> 00:06:36.694
Mcdaniel's sighting made the Reading Eagle.

00:06:36.694 --> 00:06:40.148
But it was clear most people didn't believe it was true.

00:06:40.148 --> 00:06:50.235
It didn't help that a 10-year-old neighbor faked his own eyewitness account of the beast, only to later admit that his testimony was a prank against the McDaniels.

00:06:50.235 --> 00:07:00.995
Mcdaniel reported two more sightings of the alleged beast to local cops, but he said they eventually threatened him with jail time because nobody believed what he saw had been real.

00:07:00.995 --> 00:07:06.074
But McDaniel was adamant and stood behind his scary true story.

00:07:06.074 --> 00:07:13.906
If they do find it, mcdaniel said in an interview, they will find more than one and they won't be from this planet.

00:07:13.906 --> 00:07:21.990
I can tell you that After McDaniel's public testimony about the Enfield monster, other eyewitness claims began to surface.

00:07:21.990 --> 00:11:48.625
Monster hunters swarmed the town and at least five men were arrested after firing shots in the area and claiming to have photographed the creature no-transcript Santana as a vehicle for his compositions and guitar style.

00:11:55.784 --> 00:12:00.092
The band first came to widespread public attention when their performance of Soul Sacrifice at Woodstock in 1969 provided a contrast to other acts on the bill.

00:12:00.092 --> 00:12:06.664
This exposure helped propel their first album, also named Santana, into a hit, followed in the next two years by the successful Abraxas and Santana.

00:12:06.664 --> 00:12:11.275
In the years that followed, lineup changes were common.

00:12:11.275 --> 00:12:23.544
Carlos Santana's increasing involvement with Guru Sri Chinmoy took the band into more esoteric music, though never quite losing its initial Latin influence.

00:12:23.544 --> 00:12:38.000
In 1998, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with Carlos Santana, Jose Chepito Arias, David Brown, Greg Rowley, Mike Carabello and Michael Shreed being honored.

00:12:38.000 --> 00:12:44.778
The band has earned eight Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards, the latter all in 2000.

00:12:44.778 --> 00:12:50.717
Carlos also won Grammy Awards as a solo artist in 1989 and 2003.

00:12:50.717 --> 00:13:06.109
Santana has sold more than 90 million records worldwide, making them one of the world's best-selling groups of all time.

00:13:06.129 --> 00:13:59.538
Thank you very much news and grooves a veteran supportive podcast lonely streets lit by neon light.

Jukebox playing all through the night.

00:14:02.741 --> 00:14:07.924
Life.

00:14:07.924 --> 00:14:09.548
Jukebox playing all through the night.

00:14:09.548 --> 00:14:13.552
Leather jackets and blue suede shoes can't stop loving these rockin blues.

00:14:13.552 --> 00:14:18.740
Grease in the hair and a twist in the hips, sweet sounds pouring from ruby lips.

00:14:18.740 --> 00:14:25.269
Fast cars and louder guitars slam the doors of smoky bars.

00:14:25.269 --> 00:14:28.592
Rock and roll will never fall.

00:14:28.592 --> 00:14:31.716
Hear that rhythm in the hall.

00:14:31.716 --> 00:14:34.798
Feel the beat down in your soul.

00:14:34.798 --> 00:14:38.100
This is the life we're gonna roll.

00:14:38.100 --> 00:14:46.073
Teenage dreams and beat up jeans Cruisin' under the stars.

00:14:46.073 --> 00:14:49.875
It seems Heartbeats fast like a dancin' song.

00:14:49.875 --> 00:14:59.398
In this world we all belong Chuck Berry playin' in my head.

00:14:59.398 --> 00:15:02.634
Johnny's voice just raised the dead.

00:15:02.634 --> 00:15:04.438
All the rebels.

00:15:04.438 --> 00:15:05.947
They know the score.

00:15:05.947 --> 00:15:07.687
Turn it up.

00:15:07.687 --> 00:15:10.916
We want some more Rock and roll.

00:15:10.916 --> 00:15:12.409
We'll never fall.

00:15:12.409 --> 00:15:15.626
Hear that rhythm in the hall.

00:15:15.626 --> 00:15:18.611
Feel the beat down in your soul.

00:15:18.611 --> 00:15:31.072
This is the life we're gonna roll.

00:15:31.072 --> 00:15:39.759
This is the life we're gonna roll.

00:15:39.759 --> 00:15:42.601
Rock and roll will never fall.

00:15:42.601 --> 00:15:45.917
Hear that rhythm in the hall.

00:15:45.917 --> 00:15:48.914
Feel the beat down in your soul.

00:15:49.804 --> 00:16:20.222
This is the life we're gonna roll ballet dancer balances on moving atvs while doing the splits.

00:16:20.222 --> 00:16:32.099
A syrian ballet dancer got into the split position and balanced on a pair of ATVs for a ride lasting 1,541 feet 11 inches to break a Guinness World Record.

00:16:32.099 --> 00:16:45.528
Yarik Der 26, broke the record for the longest distance covered while performing a split on two moving ATVs, a record that required her to not touch anything with her arms while each of her legs balanced on a different vehicle.

00:16:45.528 --> 00:16:52.931
The attempt in the United Arab Emirates also involved ATV drivers Mohamed Al-Blushi and Abdullah Al-Hatawi.

00:16:52.931 --> 00:16:59.095
We actually didn't know each other beforehand, but we meant to make this record and they were really great partners.

00:16:59.095 --> 00:17:01.169
Kder told Guinness World Records.

00:17:01.169 --> 00:17:09.575
Of course, confidence was important, and it was already there, because I saw their performance and I was confident that we could achieve the numbers successfully.

00:17:09.575 --> 00:17:16.678
The ATVs were required to maintain a speed of at least 3.1 miles per hour for the duration of the attempt.

00:17:16.678 --> 00:17:23.488
Kterre successfully took the record with a distance of 1,541 feet 11 inches.

00:17:39.758 --> 00:18:08.558
Where no one but me knows the time, when the roses are swaying and the trumpet vines fading and the broken glass paints a mural on the walk, and the cars and the flies in the alley sleep tight While the motors hum a lullaby and the sun in the morning will soon be aglow.

00:18:08.558 --> 00:18:33.324
So I slip into your light and close both of mine, sleepwalk your street in the middle of sleep, where no one but me Hears the song when the roses are swaying and the trumpet vines fading and your windows and doors.

00:18:33.705 --> 00:18:58.077
And the shadows dream on oh the flies in each alley Carve words into stone Of a past life of heaven, words you thought you had known and I wish I could show you how I sing to you now.

00:18:58.077 --> 00:19:23.759
But you might recognize this tune Sleep.

00:19:23.759 --> 00:19:40.169
Walk your street in the middle of sleep, where no one but me hears the song, when the roses are swaying and the trumpet vines fading and your windows and doors and the shadows dream on.

00:19:40.169 --> 00:20:10.866
Sleepwalk your street in the middle of sleep where no one but me hears the song, when the roses are swaying and the trumpet vines fading and your windows and doors and the shadows stream on.

00:20:31.114 --> 00:20:33.194
You are listening to the News and Grooves podcast.

00:20:50.926 --> 00:20:51.788
Tyra's Hungry.

00:20:54.309 --> 00:20:54.430
Melody.

00:20:54.430 --> 00:20:58.932
Old signs tell stories from another time.

00:21:01.736 --> 00:21:12.806
Dusty roads ahead and the stars align, Radio's crackling, but I don't care.

00:21:12.806 --> 00:21:27.449
The open road, the tune floating in the air Gas station coffee and a freight old map.

00:21:29.900 --> 00:21:45.140
Every mile's a memory I'll treasure in my cab, rolling down Route 66, chasing the sky Every curve.

00:21:45.320 --> 00:21:48.307
every turn makes me feel alive.

00:21:48.307 --> 00:21:52.589
Dreams painted on the asphalt.

00:21:53.694 --> 00:22:02.047
They never mix Freedom's a name rolling down Route 66.

00:22:05.695 --> 00:22:25.364
Neon motels blinking in the night, classic diners serving cherry pie delight, leather boots tapping to a jukebox hit A rhythm of the heart.

00:22:25.364 --> 00:22:27.796
This is where I fit.

00:22:27.796 --> 00:22:49.373
Cactus shadows dance in the evening.

00:22:49.373 --> 00:23:10.808
Glow Mountains loom like giants watching me go in his loom, like giants watching me go past tumbleweeds and highways that never quit this stretch of road's a song I'll never own.

00:23:10.808 --> 00:23:25.290
Rolling down route 66, chasing the sky, every curve, every turn makes me feel alive.

00:23:25.290 --> 00:23:32.028
Dreams painted on the asphalt they never miss.

00:23:32.028 --> 00:23:36.006
Freedom's the name.

00:23:36.006 --> 00:23:57.290
Rolling down Route 666, thanks for coming on the show.

00:23:57.310 --> 00:23:58.031
We really appreciate you being here.

00:23:58.031 --> 00:23:59.073
Tell your friends and neighbors about us.

00:23:59.073 --> 00:24:00.213
Thanks for coming on the show.

00:24:00.213 --> 00:24:01.275
We really appreciate you being here.

00:24:01.275 --> 00:24:06.045
Tell your friends and neighbors about us and return next week for more fun and great music.

00:24:06.045 --> 00:24:07.468
We're out of here.
